How to depot The Body Shop Eye Shadows

Hello!

I had a really busy few days at the end of last week and over the weekend, so did not get around to blogging :(

Anyway I thought that I would share my experience of depotting some eye shadows that I have been collecting from The Body Shop.

I have bought all of these on sale for between £2 and £2.50, as there was a 3 for 2 on when I bought the last few, then those were cheaper than £2...

I had bought the palette on ebay, ages ago, but here's a link to the seller, in case you need it...

So, I had done a bit of research into the best way to get these out of the containers they came in and decided to do the oven method.

I tried to buy a variety of colours...

I made sure the palette had  the correct sized pans, it's 26mm for The Body Shop shadows.

I peeled back the top part of the sticker and placed it in the lid of the palette, according to position, then peeled the bottom portion of the label off to reveal the hole.

I placed the shadows in the same order as the labels on the palette, on an oven tray covered with tin foil. I
placed them in the oven set at 80 degrees C (plate warming setting) for approx 10 mins.
This is sufficient to melt the glue that holds the shadow in the pan.

This is the weapon of choice to help ease the shadow pan from the container...

Always one casualty...I am not sure how this one happened, but I mended it by repressing with alcohol.

There we are! The missing one was drying when I took this picture, but rest assured it is living a happy life with all the other depotted victims...

I was rather pleased with the final result. I have a nice mixture of light and dark shades and the palette is a neat way of storing these all together.

Have you had any depotting successes (or failures) ?

Bye for now!!

  1. I've depotted some shadows out of one of those cardboard palettes before... it was a disaster... everything cracked. I ended up throwing it out, good thing that palette was only $5!

    1. Good that you 'practised' on something inexpensive! Sorry it didn't work out...x

  2. Great idea. I hate having individual eyeshadows lying around when they can be combined in one palette.
